Cydia for iOS 11 May be Released Soon

Even though the iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 jailbreak tools such as Electra Jailbreak and LiberiOS jailbreak have been released more than a month back, Cydia, the app store for jailbreak apps and tweaks, hasn’t been available as it is not compatible with iOS 11.

Interestingly, it looks like the long-anticipated Cydia for iOS 11 may be released soon, however, there is a catch. Cydia for iOS 11 won’t be released by saurik. It looks like coolstar, the developer of Electra Jailbreak, is preparing to release Cydia for iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2.

Few hours back, coolstar tweeted that Cydia for iOS 11 is almost ready:

Jaywalker has confirmed that APT for iOS 11 is ready. So looks like Cydia for iOS 11 will be released soon.

While that is great news for jailbreakers who have been waiting for it to install the jailbreak apps and tweaks, it is unlikely that you will be able to install paid jailbreak tweaks as purchases won’t be enabled until the official version of Cydia for iOS 11 has not been released by saurik. It is not clear if it will also include Cydia Substrate for iOS 11 as it would be required for the tweaks to work.

If you’ve jailbroken your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using Electra Jailbreak, then you can also install the jailbreak tweaks manually on iOS 11 – iOS 11.1.2 as it comes with Substitute, an alternative for Cydia Substrate.

Update 1:

We’ve some more updates about the possibility of Cydia for iOS 11 for users who have used jailbreak tools like to.panga and LiberiOS jailbreak as it could potentially cause conflicts. In the case of to.panga, coolstar has tweeted that “We’ve decided we won’t deal with to.panga. We will simply check for the presence of any of to.panga’s files, and if any are present we’ll simply halt the jailbreak and let the user deal” with it on their own. We don’t expect many jailbreakers to be affected by this, as it wasn’t easy to use the to.panga jailbreak.

If you’ve used the LiberiOS jailbreak, then coolstar told that they will uninstall LiberiOS as it’s easy, unlike the to.panga jailbreak.

Though LiberiOS jailbreak is considered as the first jailbreak for iOS 11, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, to.panga was released before it, but it was meant for developers.

Update 2:

coolstar has tweeted that the patched Cydia is almost ready.

Got our patched Cydia ready to go. Just need to add metadata for APT & DPKG and we’ll be able to build the bootstrap to test!
