Apple Releases WatchOS 6.2.1 With FaceTime Bug Fix

Apple has released the next minor update for watchOS, bringing with it a quick fix for a lingering FaceTime bug.

On Wednesday, following the release of iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1 on Tuesday, Apple officially released watchOS 6.2.1 to the public. As the version number suggests this is a minor update in the grand scheme of things, so don’t expect any major forward facing new features to join the list. However, it does bring with it an important bug fix for FaceTime, which prevented Apple Watches running watchOS 6.2 from joining in FaceTime Audio calls with devices running iOS 9.3.6 or earlier, or OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 or earlier.

To update your Apple Watch, the smartwatch must have at least 50% of battery, be connected to its charger, and also be within range and connected to the iPhone. If you have Automatic Downloads switched on, the Apple Watch will automatically download and install the new software. However, to update manually you’ll need to open the Watch app on your iPhone, select General –> Software Update and then follow the instructions on the screen.

watchOS 6.2.1 is available now as a free update.
